Deniz is a London based multidisciplinary artist, designer and filmmaker whose works are mostly influenced by the geography, architecture and the relation between human and nature.
She began her studies in Stage and Costume Design in Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, earning her BFA in 2008, then went on to graduate studies in Puppet Design and Stop-Motion Animation. After 4 years of experience as academic member of staff in Mimar Sinan University, she has been involved in several teaching projects in universities both as a lecturer and workshop leader in countries such as Switzerland, U.S.A and Turkey.
Her films have been screened in many International Film Festivals and her works have been exhibited in Prague and Beijing as well as Istanbul.
"My works look to the relationship between memory and places. I explore maps, architecture, landscape and geography by drawing with the thread and embroidering.
In this series of works, you will see internal narratives highly influenced by my hometown Istanbul which is changing rapidly, loosing its identity because of corrupt urban transformation policies."
